Albert Joseph Mestayer

Loreauville"A Mass of Christian Burial for Albert Joseph Mestayer, 87, will be celebrated on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Reverend Paul Onugebe will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mr. Mestayer passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 8:25 A.M. in a New Iberia care facility. A native and lifelong resident of Loreauville, Mr. Mestayer retired from Texaco Oil Company, where he worked as a cook for 30 years. On his days off, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Basin, and after retirement he raised rabbits and pigeons. Mr. Mestayer was a member of St . Joseph Catholic Church. Survivors include his brother, Angus F. Mestayer and wife, Florence of Loreauville; sister, Esmee M. Broussard of Breaux Bridge; nephews, Alan Broussard of Breaux Bridge and Karl J. Mestayer of Lafayette; 2 grand nephews; and 4 grand nieces. Preceding Mr. Mestayer in death were his parents, Bertin Francis and Lucy Girouard Mestayer. Serving as pallbearers are John B. Mestayer, Christopher F. Mestayer, Alan Broussard, Karl J. Mestayer, Otto Girouard, and David Moulis. David Funeral Home, 118 Main Street, Loreauville, 229-8338 is in charge of arrangements.
