Abbeville - A Mass of Christian Burial for Eve Eva Borel Duhon, 94, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, beginning at 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 from 8:00 AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Protestant Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Ms. Duhon, a native of Abbeville, passed away at 11:58 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at her residence. Ms. Duhon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed shopping in Abbeville and reading the newspaper.
She is survived by her daughter, Hilda S. Howard and husband James C. Howard, Sr. both of Abbeville. Step daughter, Enola D. Connor and husband Bradley Connor of Abbeville. Step son, Raymond Duhon and wife Diane Duhon of Anahuac, Texas. She had fourteen grandchildren, twenty - eight great grandchildren and seventeen great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Octavie Thibodeaux and Alphe Borel, first husband, John J. Sweezy Sr., second husband, Ernest Duhon, a sister, Lilly Borel, son John J. Sweezy Jr.,grandchild, Freddie Pookie Deville, great grandsons, LeeVon J. Howard and Frankie J. Deville and great granddaughter, ShaShani Duhon, stepmother, Adophina Resweber Borel.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Howard, Chris Hebert, Chad Savoy, Eric Tauzin, Jeremy Rodefer and Jeremy Deville.
David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity St., (337) 893-3777, will be handling the arrangements.
