Lafayette- A private memorial service for Mr. Donald "Rex" Hinton, Sr., age 65, will be held at a later date. Mr. Hinton, a native of Moline, Illinois and a resident of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, May 9 at 7:15PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Hopsital. Rex was a member of the Blue Lodge of Moline,Illinois and a 32nd Degree Mason. He retired from the International Harvester, Farmall plant of Rock Island, Illionis in 1985 as a General Foreman of the Assembly Division. He relocated to Camden, Ark. the same year and went to work for Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control and retired in 2003 and relocated to Lafayette in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Rebecca Coffeen-Hinton of Lafayette; one daughter Amber Lea Hinton-Sones of Lafayette; one son Donald Rex Hinton, Jr., and his wife Pamela Marie; one granddaughter, Bayley Rebecca Sones of Lafayette; one brother Ben Leon Hinton of Novinger, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben Leslie and Elsie Evelyn Baker-Hinton. Mr. Hinton will have a Masonic service followed by a private family viewing and cremation to follow, as he wished. Rex was a very private and loving man who always thought of his family and friends first. The grief to his wife and children is something only time and prayers will lighten. The family wishes to thank Dr. Karen Smith and Dr. Jody Rosson for all their care and thoughtfulness in caring for Rex. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Zoo of Acadiana, the Shriners Burn Hospital in Galveston, Texas or the Shriners Hopsital for Crippled Children in Shreveport, La.
