Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton , LA at 11:00 AM for John H. Ecuer, Sr. Father Bill Crumley will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Mausoleum on the church grounds. The family will receive friends at Davids Funeral Home on the Youngsville Highway in Lafayette on Monday, December 29, 2008 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday at 8:30 AM until the service time. A native of Charenton and a Lafayette resident, Mr. Ecuer died on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 4:07 AM at Camelot of Broussard. He was 82. John started his career in 1951 as a tool pusher for Pan American Petroleum Corporation in the Charenton field. After 30 years with Amoco, he retired in 1981 as a Senior Offshore Construction Foreman. He was a mans man who loved his family and country. A craftsman and inventor, he held several oilfield related patents and was also an avid outdoorsman, LSU and Saints fan. He loved spending time with his family, organizing many large gatherings at the HEE Lodge in Charenton, which he built himself especially for that purpose. He is survived by his six daughters, Karen Puissegur and her husband Mike of Lafayette, Cynthia Boutte of Spring, TX, Nancy Ecuer of Charenton, LA, Annette Billet and her husband Bobby of Lafayette, Lynette Brown and her husband David of Lafayette and Mary Brandmeyer and her husband, Ivan of Corpus Christi, TX, one sister, Juliet Wilkinson of New Orleans, his grandchildren, Matthew Boutte, Emily Froelich, Sarah Blankenship, Amanda Boutte, Jennie Lusinger, Esther Bourgeois, Jean Paul Bourgeois, Erik Billet, Molly Billet, Olivia Billet, John Gerard Brandmeyer, Brandi Ecuer and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette L. Ecuer, his son John H. Ecuer, Jr., his parents Henry and Eleanor Ecuer and five siblings. Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Mike Puissegur, Bobby Billet, David Brown, Ivan Brandmeyer, Matthew Boutte, Jean Paul Bourgeois, Erik Billet and Kevin Ecuer. Johns family would like to thank the staff at Camelot of Broussard, especially the Gold nursing staff and Hospice of Acadiana.
