Mr. Rabeaux passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at The Heart Hospital in Lafayette at 4:53PM.
Gus also known as Junior, was a native and resident of Youngsville. He was a loving husband, kind loving devoted father, grandfather as well as great-grandfather. Gus and his wife Mary traveled to 52 countries and all 50 states. Gus loved family, friends, fishing and gardening as well as games with family and friends. He served as Woodman of the World President for 8 years and was currently serving as Sergeant of Arms. Gus will be dearly missed, not only by family and friends but by all of those whose lives he so dearly touched. Gus served in the United States Navy as a Seaman First Class in Pearl Harbor. He retired from Sears after 35 years of employment as a Service Manager and Contract Salesman.
Gus is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Huval Rabeaux, happily married for 41 years, sons, Karl Rabeaux and his wife Donna, Greg Rabeaux and his wife Bobbie Jo, Raylund Romero and his wife Michelle; daughter, Anita Romero LeBourgeois and her husband Mike; grandchildren, Jason Rabeaux, Nick Rabeaux, Kris Turner, Nancy Messer, Kyle LeBourgeois, Ashley Comeaux, Kimberly Bergeron, Amber Chalee, Hunter Romero, Glenn Rabeaux, Brittni Rabeaux and Michelle Rabeaux; great-grandchildren, Dustin Rabeaux, Cole Rabeaux, Gabby Rabeaux, McKenzie Messer, Emma Messer, Isaac Messer, Olivia LeBourgeois, Brennan Comeaux, Saylor Comeaux and Natalee Chalee; brother, Chester Rabeaux; sisters, Eula Mae Trahan and Rose Trahan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gustave Rabeaux, Sr. and Odilla Moreaux Rabeaux; a son Glenn Paul Rabeaux; a daughter Racheal Rabeaux Turner; brothers, John Rabeaux and Edwin Rabeaux; sisters, Victoria Romero, Effie Hebert, Lanie Trahan, Aline Trahan and Elina Rouley.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Nick Rabeaux, Kris Turner, Hunter Romero, Kyle LeBourgeois, Damon Comeaux and John Bergeron. Honorary Pallbearer will be his grandson Jason Rabeaux.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, La. 70506, in memory of his daughter, Rachael Rabeaux Turner.
