Jeanerette"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Richard Walker, the former Barbara Romero, 60, will be celebrated on Friday, July 4, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. The Reverend Jody Simoneaux will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 from 1:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker passed away on Wednesday, July 02, 2008 at 3:54 A.M. in a Lafayette hospital.

A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Walker lived in Jeanerette, where she was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a very generous person, giving of her time as a volunteer helper at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home. Mrs. Walker was a wonderful cook who made sure no one left her kitchen hungry. Her greatest joy in life was being with and caring for her family.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Walker of Jeanerette; daughters, Zina Dore and husband, Eric of St. Martinville, Mary Landry of New Iberia, Ramona Collins of New Iberia, and Melissa Rogers and husband, Joey of Parks; sons, Maurice Mo Rodrigue and wife, Vicki of Jeanerette, Timmy Walker of St. Martinville, Ricky Walker and wife, Lisa of St. Martinville, and Todd Walker and wife, Kim of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Linda Feller and husband, Jerry of New Iberia, Cheryl Viator and husband, David of New Iberia, and Diane Viator and husband, Brett of New Iberia; brothers, Richard Romero and wife, Suzie of New Iberia and Larry Romero and wife, Wanda of New Iberia; 18 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mrs. Walker in death were her parents, Roosevelt and Bertha Louviere Romero.

Serving as pallbearers are Eric Dore, Todd Walker, Pete Derouen, Tevin Rodrigue, Timmy Walker, and Jerry Feller. Named as honorary pallbearers are Larry Romero, Warren Raymond, and Richard Romero.

David Funeral Home of Jeanerette, 400 Provost Street, 276-5151 is in charge of arrangements.
