Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather NEW IBERIA ~ Services for Alfred J. Slim" Darcey, Sr., 82, will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, July 11, 2008 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Richard Fabre officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post 1982 of New Iberia. Visiting hours will be observed Thursday from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Friday at 8:00 AM until the time of service. A native of Franklin and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Darcey died at 7:40 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Dauterive Hospital. Mr. Darcey retired from Texaco Inc, as a foreman after 34 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He received two purple hearts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He loved being with his family. He is survived by his son, Byron L. Darcey, Sr. and wife Cyndi of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Brenda L. Darcey of Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Aaron Darcey and wife Melissa of Lafayette, Amber Darcey of Nashville, Tennessee, Brandon Darcey of Jeanerette, and Bryon Darcey, Jr. and wife Dee of Loreauville; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Darcey, Caitlin and Christopher Mouton, all of Loreauville, and Phillip Darcey of New Iberia; and brothers, Donald Darcey and wife Catherine, and Melvin Darcey and wife Sherry, all of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Elsie Freyou Darcey of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Darcey was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Bodin Darcey; parents, Oscar and Louise Aucoin Darcey; son, Alfred Al Darcey, Jr.; and brothers, Johnny and W.L. Dub Darcey. Pallbearers will be Byron BJ Darcey, Jr., Aaron, Brandon, Chad and Rickey Darcey and Josh Lannie.
