Visiting hours will be observed Monday, July 14, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM at David Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at 8:00 AM until the time of service.
A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Viator died at 11:15 AM Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
Mr. Viator retired with 30 years of service with Cameco and J & L as a welder. He was a member of the Louisiana National Guard. He loved fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Karl Viator and wife Lynn of Lafayette, Brenda V. Moorehart Moneaux and husband Reley of Erath, Clayton Viator and wife Monica of New Iberia, and Yvette Viator Gondran of New Iberia; companion, Melinda Mullican of New Iberia; sisters, Marion Goldie Derouen of New Iberia, and Diane Theriot of St. Martinville; brothers, Edias Derouen, Sr. of New Iberia, John Viator, Sr. of Jeanerette, Larry Viator of Jeanerette, and Leslie Lancon of New Iberia; special niece, Lisa D. Comeaux of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Viator was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Babin Viator; parents, Jean Batiste and Yolande Babineaux Viator; brother, Calvin Viator; and sister, Mary Jane Baudoin.
Pallbearers will be Robert Moorehart, Kyle Viator, Karl Adam Viator, Tyler Gondran, Glen Comeaux and Reley Moneaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Viator, Edias Derouen Sr., John Viator, Sr., Leslie Lancon, Larry Viator and Tony Derouen.
