Jeanell Broussard Ruffin

A native and resident of Abbeville, Jeanell passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 7:10PM at Rapides Medical Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was an active member of St. Mary Congregational Church and enjoyed reading her Bible. She was a die-hard Lakers and Kobe Bryant fan. She also enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, and football. She loved going to the casino with her lady friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Due to the death of her husband at a young age, she was both mother and father to her children.

She is survived by her sons, Willie Bree L. Ruffin, Jr. and wife, Kendra of Inglewood, CA and Bryant K. Ruffin of Abbeville; her daughters, Terry Y. Broussard of Abbeville, Deshera S. Rideaux and husband, Jerome of Houston, TX, Willie Lois Martin and husband, Kenneth of Carson, CA, Teresa Ruffin and Collette Ruffin, both of Abbeville, Kris M. Ruffin of Jeanerette, and Ladante Grogan of Abbeville; her brothers, Calvin Broussard, Sr. and Raymond Broussard, both of Abbeville, Alvin Broussard, Sr. of Baton Rouge, Alex Broussard of Carencro, Donavan Broussard, and Rodney Harris of Abbeville; her sisters, Marilyn Henderson, Gwendolyn Bessard, Carol Turner, Marvalette Briggs, all of Abbeville, and Rose Marie Murphy of Beaumont, TX; an aunt, Amy Levine of Port Arthur TX; an uncle, Earl Williams of Port Arthur, TX Texas; her Godchild, Wayne Brown of Abbeville; her step-mother, Victorine Broussard of Abbeville; nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lloyd Ruffin, Sr.; her parents, Morris Broussard and Dorothy William; her aunt, Maude A. Brown; and her grandparents which reared her, Aldoph and Carrie Williams.


Serving as pallbearers will be Gregory Allen, Paul Williams, Raymond Marsh, Kenny Levine, Wayne Brown, Michael Williams.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Wiilie Lloyd Ruffin, Jr., Bryant Keith Ruffin, Kenneth Wayne Martin, Sr., Jerome Paul Rideaux, Michael Broussard, Daniel Anthony Ruffin, Willie Maurice Ruffin, Cody Christopher Rideaux, Dustin Dretrayal Ruffin, Kenneth Wayne Martin, Jr., Michael DeJuan Campbell, and Joseph Lionel Ardoin, III.
