Loving father and grandfather LOREAUVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Degeyter Sr., 93, will be conducted at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Loreauville with Father Ed Degeyter and Father Mario Romero officiating. Entombment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum in Loreauville. Visiting hours will be observed Tuesday, August 21, 2007, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 7:00 PM at David Funeral Home of Loreauville. Visitation will resume Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 8:00 AM until the time of service. A native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Degeyter died at 10:05 AM Monday, August 20, 2007, in a New Iberia hospital. Mr. Degeyter was a member of the Iberia Sugar Co-op. He was a sugar cane farmer for 65 years. Roy enjoyed being with his family and had a passion for his lifes work. He is survived by his sons, Larry Degeyter and wife Kitty of St. Martinville, David Degeyter and wife Roberta of Loreauville, Roy Degeyter Jr. and wife Carol of Loreauville, Dr. Roland Degeyter of Franklin, and Michael Degeyter and wife Doris of New Iberia; step-son, Kenneth Domingue and wife Ella of Grand Marais; daughters, Delores D. Jordan of New Iberia, and Rosalee D. Anderson and husband Bill of Purvis, Miss.; brother, Louis Degeyter of Breaux Bridge; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Degeyter was preceded in death by his parents, Cyriaque Degeyter Sr. and Honorina Castille Degeyter; first wife, Marion Gauthier; second wife, Viola Hebert; son-in-law, Edwin Jordan; and brothers and sisters, Marie Laure Thibodeaux, Laura Savoy, Cesaire Degeyter, Corine Dwyer, Thadeus Degeyter, Benjamin Degeter, Cyriaque Degeyter Jr., Laurent Degeyter, Pierre Degeyter, Rose Mouton and Francis Degeyter. Pallbearers will be John, Barry, Billy, Boudy, Kurt and Craig Degeyter. Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Degeyter, Lance Degeyter, John Anderson, James Anderson and Kyle Degeyter.
