Jeanerette"A memorial service honoring the life of Carl Joseph Brown, Sr., 76, will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 6:30 P.M. in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Jeanerette. The Reverend Ed Degeyter will officiate. Entombment with military honors rendered by V.F.W. Post 1982 will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Brown passed away on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 1:26 A.M. in his New Iberia residence. A native and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Brown served in the United State Air Force Reserve for over 20 years, having served in the Korean Conflict. He also worked for various oil field companies, and for Iberia Parish Sheriffs Office under Sid Hebert for several years. Mr. Brown served as past commander of the Jeanerette V.F.W. and American Legion posts, and he served on the Iberia Parish School Board. He enjoyed building model airplanes, and was a true animal lover. Mr. Brown was well-known and well-loved in the community, and it could be said that he never met a stranger. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Bodin Brown of New Iberia; sons, Carl J. Brown, Jr. and wife, Angelia of New Iberia and Troy C. Brown of Centerville; daughters, Stacey B. Baudoin and husband, Darrell of New Iberia and Valerie B. Mayer and husband, Curtis Trei III of Broussard; grandchildren, Ashely B. Kelehan and husband, Nick of New Iberia, Christy Lynn Baudoin of New Iberia, Kori Baudoin of New Iberia, Rebecca Jackson of Lake Charles, Olivia Rae Brown of Broussard, and Sebastian Mayer of Broussard; and great-grandchildren, Grant Kelehan and Simone Kelehan, both of New Iberia. Preceding Mr. Brown in death were his parents, Philip and Clara Guiberteaux Brown; and brother, Dr. Kennell Brown.
