Lafayette ~ A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard, for Mrs. Roland J. "Roy" Hebert, the former Opal Landers, age 81, on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 10:00AM. Father Louis Richard will be officiating. Visitation will begin on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 11:00AM until 8:00PM with a Rosary being recited at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Hebert was a native of Berwick, Louisiana and a resident of Lafayette. She passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 2:25AM at her residence. She loved playing her guitar, singing and dancing. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband Roland J. "Roy" Hebert; her daughters, Sharon S. Kiser and her husband Ronnie of Lafayette, Janie S. Bowers and her husband Dwayne of Lafayette and Tammy S. Bergeron and her husband Jimmy of Lafayette; sisters, Wilna L. Duplantis of Gonzales and Mazie L. Crews of Cleveland, Texas. Mrs. Hebert also has 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Alfred R. Stansbury; parents, William Thomas Landers and Eva Crochet Landers; brothers, Leroy Guillory and W.T. Landers, a granddaughter, Leah M. Bergeron and a son-in-law James S. Abshire, Sr. Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Henderson, Ronald Henderson, Brett Henderson, James Abshire, Jr., Jamison Abshire, John Bergeron, Jason Bergeron, and Lucas Bergeron. David Funeral Home, 316 Youngsville Highway (337-837-9887) of Lafayette is handling the arrangements.
