Lafayette - Funeral Services for Allen Paul Slim Guidroz will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 in the David Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 12, 2007 from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary at 6:30 PM and will resume on Saturday at 8:00 AM until service time.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Broussard.

A native of Carencro and a resident of Broussard, Mr. Guidroz passed away on October 10, 2007 at 8:00 PM at South West Medical Center.

Mr. Guidroz was Chief Dispatcher with Halliburton Services and retired in 1984 after 36 years of service. He was also one of the oldest members of the Evangeline Chapter of Antique Automobile Club of America and served two terms as President. He was known to his friends in the club as the Model T Man . He was past owner and operator of The Small Engine Shop in Broussard. He was also crew chief of Mash On It / Racing Team

Mr. Guidroz was also described by his family as being The Best Poppa ever. He was much loved and will be sadly missed.

Mr. Guidroz is survived by his wife, Eleanor Dumesnil Guidroz of Broussard; daughter, Louise Guidroz Ortego and her husband Paul of Youngsville; two sons, Timothy A. Guidroz and his wife Norma Melancon and Barton A. Guidroz; granddaughters, Merri Cormier of Duson, Captain Carlie Ortego of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Riane Clare Ortego of Harahan, Kathleen Marie Guidoz of Broussard, Michelle Frances Melancon Guidroz of Broussard, Amber N. Guidroz of Lafayette; grandson, Zachary Guidroz of Broussard; great-grandson, Colby Allen Paul Cormier of Duson; brother Ned Louis Guidroz; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Laurentine Guidry Guidroz and a brother Albert Guidoz.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Derouen, Billy Miller, Ray Montgomery, Zachary Guidroz, Paul Ortego and Cooper Guidroz.

Special thanks goes to Southwest Medical Center for their loving core and compassion that they gave to Mr. Guidroz for the 69 days he was in their facility. Appreciation also goes out to the nurses, staff, Dr. Kenneth Spiller and doctors of CIS Unit of the South on the sixth floor.
