Loved His Family and His Country

Coteau " Funeral Services will be conducted for Paul Thomas Vincent, Age 29, at 1:00PM Wednesday September 26, 2007 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau with Father Barry Crochet officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday September 25, 2007 from 2:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM and again Wednesday from 8:00AM until time of service. He died Sunday September 23, 2007 at his residence in Opelousas.

A native of New Iberia Paul had been a longtime resident of Coteau and Opelousas. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed grilling, laughing and listening to music.

Corporal Paul Vincent entered into the service on April 11, 1996 as part of the 256th Military Intelligence Company of the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and faithfully served the Military Intelligence Company and the 256th Brigade for twelve years. Corporal Vincent first served the Military Intelligence Company as an Intelligence Analyst, and later as an Equipment Parts Specialist. In April 2004, Corporal Vincent was called upon to take his place with the 256th Infantry Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Corporal Vincent served with the 256th Brigade in combat in Iraq until September 2005. Corporal Vincent was the recipient of multiple service awards during his twelve years of service to the Louisiana Army National Guard to include, The Army Achievement Medal (3 times); The Army Good Conduct Medal; The Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal; The National Defense Service Medal, The Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device which symbolizes a mobilization; The Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; The Iraq Campaign Medal; The Louisiana War Cross, The Louisiana Emergency Service Ribbon; and The Louisiana Longevity Ribbon. Corporal Vincents service to his Country and to the Louisiana Army National Guard has been commendable. Corporal Vincent will certainly be missed as a part of the 256th Brigade, and as a soldier of Company B, 256th Brigade Special Troops Battalion.

Survivors include his wife; Julia Fontenot Vincent of Ville Platte, children; Traylen Paul and Leah Marie Vincent both of Ville Platte, parents; Malvin P. Frenchie and Rita Brown Vincent of Coteau, sisters; M. Bess Vincent and fianc Sean Hofherr of Rochester, Minnesota and Hannah Vincent and fianc Dr. Paul Breslow of Pasadena, California, maternal grandparents; James and Margaret Brown of Lake Village, Arkansas and paternal grandmother; Eve Vincent of Erath. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Wilton Vincent.

Pallbearers will be fellow members of the Louisiana Army/National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Vincent, James R. Brown, James T. Brown, Christian Miller and Wade Fontenot.
