New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Simon LeBlanc, 90, on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Steve LeBlanc officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Graveside Rites conducted by V.F. W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will begin on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:00 PM.

A native of Delcambre and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. LeBlanc died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008 at 5:56 PM in a local hospital. Mr. LeBlanc was employed with Ackals Department Store for 25 years and Bealls Department Store for 17 years. During his retirement he transported automobiles for National Rentals for 20 years. He loved gardening and worked with his grandson at S & L Lawn Care. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army where he was a french interpreter at the Army Hospital in Leon, France. He was among the group of veterans on the First World War II Honor Flight to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 1982 and a member of the Honor Guard. He was also a member of the American Legion and Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lillian LeBlanc of New Iberia; his sons, Keith LeBlanc and his wife Vallerie of Dallas, TX and Norman LeBlanc and his wife Susan of New Iberia; his daughter, Myra LeBlanc of New Iberia; and his grandchildren, Andree and Aimee LeBlanc both of Dallas, TX and Lance and Leah LeBlanc both of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Necess LeBlanc and Leah Broussard LeBlanc and his sister, Olga Guidry.

Pallbearers will be Larry Guidry, Jr., Alton Borel, Lance LeBlanc, Dave Landry, Jay Broussard and Orres LeBlanc.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clayton Romero, Larry Guidry, Sr., Elwood McGee, Wilmer Baudoin, George Simar and members of V.F.W. Post 1982 Honor Guard.
