New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. William Akins, the former Celeste LaChausse, 91 on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father Gary Schexnayder officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre.

Visitation will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008 at 7:00 PM.

A native of Delcambre and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Akins died on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008 at 10:00 PM in a New Iberia hospital. Mrs. Akins retired from Bell South after 40 years of employment and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Catholic Daughters at St. Peters Catholic Church. Taken from her home by Angels, she adored her 3 grandchildren, loved her rose bushes and working in her yard and sitting on her swing.

She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Akins Louviere and her husband Dr. Gene Louviere of Lake Charles and Phyllis Akins Menard and her husband Chief Earl Menard of Youngsville; her granddaughter, Erin Reeves Dore and her husband Edward Ed Dore of New Iberia; her grandsons, Jeffery Vincent Louviere and his wife Vanessa Brown Louviere of New Orleans and William Pierce Billy Louviere of Los Angeles, CA and her great grandson, Reeves Edward Dore of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bill Akins; her parents, Luc LaChausse and Sylvanie Broussard LaChausse; her brothers, Henry, Andrew, Hazard and Ozard LaChausse and her sisters, Alida LaChausse Broussard, Heneritta Lachausse Broussard and Andrea LaChausse LeBlanc.

Pallbearers will be Melvin Barrilleaux, Chief Earl Menard, Dr. Gene Louviere, William Billy Louviere, Jeffery Louviere, George Reeves and Edward Ed Dore.
