New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Francis Darby, the former Andrea Bergeron, 86, Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 3:00PM at David Funeral Home of New Iberia with Brother Bart Boyer officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2009 from 9:00AM until time of service. A native of Youngsville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Darby passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 9:40AM at her residence after a lengthy illness. Andrea was born January 17, 1923 to Louis Kelly Bergeron and Marie Angela Benoit Bergeron. She was affectionately known as Maw-Maw D, Da-Da or Mere to all who knew and loved her. Andrea was a homemaker and a very good one indeed. She cared tirelessly for her family. Some of her passions were cooking, camping, entertaining, dancing and sewing. Andrea was one of Jehovahs Witnesses for over 40 years. She loved sharing Bible truths with anyone that would listen. Her faith, family and friends were the most important things in her life. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she touched. Andrea is survived by her husband of 66 years, Francis; her children: Carroll Darby, Sr. (Shirley) of New Iberia, Frankie Hewitt (Jim) of Franklin, Michael Darby of Pineville, Peggy Cormier (Edmond), Charlene Johns (Jaimie), and Rodney Darby, all of New Iberia; her grandchildren: Dean Darby (Kay), Benita Berrara (Felix), Bradly Darby (Amanda), Jason Hewitt all of New Iberia; Nicki Lovell (Chad) of Charenton; Stevie Tourney (Nick), Andrea Cormier, Emily Cormier all of New Iberia; Jaymie Quintana (Jason) of Pineville, Allison Johns, Lauren Arceneaux (Brandon) and Logan Johns all of New Iberia; her great-grandchildren: Danielle, Kirsten, Noah, Felicita, Reilly, Micah, Kayla, Madison, Kiya, Tristan and Kamryn; a sister, Goldie Fuselier of Lafayette; her beloved pet, Deesh. She is also survived by a dear friend, Monika Wattigny of New Iberia. Mrs. Darby was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Lanny, Laurence, Bill, Louis, Eva, Effie, Marjie, Camille, Fernand, Georgie; a grandchild, Timothy Jude Darby. Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Darby, Bradley Darby, Jason Hewitt, Logan Johns, Micah Hewitt and Chad Lovell. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Darby, Sr., Michael Darby, Rodney Darby, Edmond Cormier and Jaimie Johns. The family has requested that donations be made to: Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite #200, Lafayette, Louisiana-70503. A very special thanks to her nurses, Louise Young, Carolyn Fontenette and Jenny Beach and to her caretakers, Avery and Eva Derouen, Donna Mayfield, Eileen Harris and Lillian Babineaux.
