New Iberia--Funeral services for Mr. Lloyd L. Menard, Sr., 86, will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Barry Crochet will officiate. Entombment with military honors rendered by V.F.W. Post 1982 will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum, New Iberia.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter Street, New Iberia, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home.

Mr. Menard passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 1:30 P.M. in his daughters Coteau residence.

A native of St. Martinville and lifelong resident of south-central Louisiana, Mr. Menard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He saw service the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, having served in the liberation of the Philippine Islands and other campaigns. He was a carpenter and a roofer for many years, and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Catholic Church. Mr. Menard enjoyed the outdoors, and he was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed listening to and dancing to Cajun-French music, but his greatest joy was being with his large extended family.

Survivors include his wife, Lelia Hebert Menard of Coteau; sons, Sidney Menard and wife, Joyce of New Iberia and Lloyd Menard, Jr. and wife, Ramona of Church Point; daughters, Hazel Menard Foreman and husband, Jesse, Sr. of New Iberia and Joyce Menard Patty-Knife and husband, Paul of Coteau; brothers, Harold Menard of Coteau, Syprien Menard and wife, Gloria Mae of New Iberia, Francis Menard and wife, Barbara of New Iberia, Eugene Menard and wife, Mary Jane of Coteau, and Whitney Menard and wife, Nell of New Iberia; sisters, Mazel Myers of Coteau, Lorraine Gerard and husband, Bert of New Iberia, and Jerry Lynn Jones and husband, James of Coteau; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding Mr. Menard in death were his parents, Homer and Azelida Girouard Menard; daughter, Patsy Menard; brothers, Lenis Menard, Ovey Menard, and sisters, Theresa Myers and Evelyn Theriot.

Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, Jesse Foreman, Jr., Sidney Michael Menard, Chad William Menard, John Michael Scott, Jr., Bobby Bustamante, Andy Paul Bustamante, Covey Menard, and Roy Menard. Named as honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Miguel Scott and Jeremiah Bustamante.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
