A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero passed away at 11:26PM on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Iberia Medical Center.
Mr. Romero was a Civil Engineer for the LA Department of Transportation where he retired after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a huge L.S.U. fan and coached Softball and Pee-Wee Football in his younger days. He was also a boxer in high school and played baseball. He loved reading the newspaper and gardening. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, grandchildren, friends and his beloved dog Buddy . He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his three daughters, Melissa Bourque of Breaux Bridge, Lori R. LeBlanc of New Iberia and Christi Romero of Youngsville; five grandchildren; and special friend, Jane Speer of New Iberia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Yola Romero.
Pallbearers will be Drake Bourque, Christopher Watkins, Chad Romero, Marty Romero, Ernie Speer and Stephen Speer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bourque, Walter LeBlanc, Alex Bourque, Kale Bourque, Brier Bernard and Paul Speer.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Highway, (337) 837-9887, is handling the arrangements.
