New Iberia"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. M.H. Miley, 84, will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Steve LeBlanc will serve as celebrant. Interment with Masonic rites rendered by Aurora Lodge #193 F&AM will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 10:00 A.M. until service time in David Funeral Home. Mr. Miley passed away on Thursday, December 04, 2008 at 1:45 A.M. in his Lafayette residence. A native of Castor, LA, and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mr. Miley was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge #38 F&AM in Natchitoches. Mr. Miley was Director of Teche Area Vocational School for 25 years. Always very active in the New Iberia community, Mr. Miley served as a member and Past President of New Iberia Rotary Club, member of the New Iberia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Past District Chairman of Evangeline Area Boy Scouts of America, and member and Past President of Krewe of Andalusia. He was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette. Mr. Miley enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had come to love golf, having done what few golfers could claim: THREE holes-in-one. Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Inona Colton Miley of Lafayette; sons, Michael Francis Miley and Wife, Mary Beaver Debaillon of Lafayette and Mark Hugh Miley of Hales Corner, WI; grandsons, Michael C. Miley and wife Amelia Chen of Burbank, CA and Alex Russo Miley of Natchitoches; granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Miley Chishti and husband, Mateen of Frisco, TX; great-grandson, Malcolm Ignatius Chen Miley of Burbank, CA; brother, Harry L. Miley of Shreveport; and sister, Pauline M. Jones and husband, Robert of Ferriday. Preceding Mr. Miley in death were his parents, Ira Sercy Miley and Georgia Belle Watts Miley; brothers, Clark Miley, Clayton Miley, Jehu Miley, and George C. Miley; sister, Oleta Morgan; and daughter-in-law, Renee Russo Miley. Serving as pallbearers are Michael Colton Miley, Michael Francis Miley, Mark Hugh Miley, Alex R. Miley, Mateen Chishti, and Paul Fair. Named as honorary pallbearers are Harry Lane Miley, Robert Bobby Jones, W.E. Willie Hays, Ernie Russo, Jack O. Broussard, Daron Vaughn, Vic Delcambre, William Doc Chretien, and Ryan Gonzalez. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Diocese of Lafayette Seminarian Fund, 1408 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, LA 70501 David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter Street, 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
