Jeff Brooks

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Jeff Lyday Brooks, age 88, at 10:00AM Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at David Funeral Home Chapel of New Iberia with Rev. Roland Fontenot officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery with military graveside services by VFW Post #1982. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM and will resume Wednesday from 8:00AM until service time.

A native of Ladonia, TX and resident of New Iberia for over 49 years, Mr. Brooks passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 4:55AM in a local health care facility. Mr. Brooks was a Veteran of WWII having served in the Army/Air Force. He served in the Louisiana Senate Sunset District Baton Rouge Area. He was a devoted employee of Exxon for 35 years. Mr. Brooks was best known as the man who fixed reels for fisherman. He dedicated his life to giving and helping people and charities.

Survivors include his brother, Jack Douglas Brooks of Clarksville, TN; and his friends and care takers Brian and Nancy Bihm of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Amy Brooks, his parents, James Gore Brooks and Jessie Ann Landry, his brother, Walter Bryan Brooks and his sister, Eddie Brooks.

Pallbearers will be family and friends of Mr. Brooks.
