LOVING MOTHER, MOTHER-IN-LAW, GRANDMOTHER, GREAT-GRANDMOTHER, AND GREAT-GREAT-GRANDMOTHER Coteau"A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Sidney Decoux, the former Iris Landry, 96, will be celebrated on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. The Reverend Barry Crochet will serve as celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in David Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until service time in the funeral home. Mrs. Decoux passed away on Thursday, November 06, 2008 at 12:00 P.M. in a New Iberia care facility. A native of Erath and longtime resident of Coteau, Mrs. Decoux was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook, a talent she shared for 20 years while working at Peltiers Catering Service. Mrs. Decoux enjoyed sewing and keeping her house and yard looking good. Her greatest joy was caring for, cooking for, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughter, Elta Mae Peltier and friend, Cliff Touchet of Couteau; son, Harold P. Decoux and wife, Lou Anna of Couteau; sister, Alma Landry Hebert of Erath; brother, Edwin Landry of Erath; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Mrs. Decoux in death were her husband, Sidney Decoux; parents, Remy and Leah Suire Landry; sons, Jeffrey Decoux, Sr. and Velton Decoux; great-grandson, Kirk A. Johnston, Jr.; sisters, Nilta Trahan and Lula Mae L. Toups; and brother, Louis "L.J." Landry. Serving as pallbearers are Troy Decoux, Keith Decoux, Wayne Peltier, Kirk Johnston, Sr., Richard Peltier, Rodney Decoux, Eddie Decoux, and Jeffrey Decoux, Jr. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their excellent and compassionate care.
