Abbeville " Funeral services for Mrs. Galva J. Gayneaux, the former Vernice "Toot" Mire, 85, will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 10, 2008 at David Funeral Home of Abbeville Chapel. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville beginning Monday, November 10, 2008 from 9:00 AM until the time of services. A recitation of the rosary will be held at 10:00 AM with Helen Nuckols leading. Interment will follow at Mire Cemetery in Kaplan, LA. Mrs. Gayneaux, a native of Kaplan, and a resident of Abbeville passed away Sunday, November 09, 2008 in Abbeville. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing checkers with her grandchildren and most of all cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Gayneaux also worked for Rivena Foods for sixteen years. She is survived by her daughter, Betty G. Trahan of Abbeville; two sons, Russell D. Gayneaux of Abbeville, Lester J. Pee Wee Gayneaux of Banker; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Galva J. Gayneaux; her parents Edeuse and Elda LeBlanc Mire; two sisters, Inez Gayneaux, Helena Miguez; three brothers, Lineck Mire, Gineuse Mire and Hubert "T-Boy" Mire, Sr.; son-in-law Nolan Trahan; and one grandson, Kenneth James Trahan. Serving as pallbearers will be Devin Trahan, Adam Brent LeBlanc, Adam Michael LeBlanc, Allen Lemaire, Helen Gayneaux Nuckols, and Jonathan Trahan .
