Erath " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Richard P. LeBlanc, 85, will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Herb Bennerfeld officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath beginning Friday, November 14, 2008 at 3:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum. A native and resident of Delcambre, LA Mr. LeBlanc was a loving husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. LeBlanc left a legacy for his hometown as the pharmacist of over 40 years, having graduated from Loyola University after serving in World War II. After a brief stop in Sulphur, he and his bride moved home to Delcambre where he started his business. He also was instrumental in securing doctors to serve the town of Delcambre. To this end, the family wants to express a special thank you to Dr. Kate Lee and her family for all of the years of service to the people of Delcambre. He also served on the State Board of Pharmacy for three terms. Mr. Richard was very active in civic affairs and was a past president of the Lions Club and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. For over 50 years, Mr. Richard was an extreme LSU fan, often listening to the games on his radio when the games were not televised. He was also very proud to be a Saints fan and remembered the Saints very first game. The house that he and his wife built in Delcambre served as a popular gathering place for family and friends. He was known as a prolific barbequer and did this every Sunday for many years. Mr. Richard had over 30 godchildren that he was parain to. Survivors include his daughter, Estelle Brown and husband Jerry of Delcambre, Sons Keith LeBlanc and wife Maggie of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Jeff LeBlanc and wife Avery of Delcambre, Carl LeBlanc and wife Jackie of New Iberia, Toby LeBlanc and fiance Mary Miller of Baton Rouge. Grand children: Amy Noel, Richie Brown, Kirstin LeBlanc, Andre` LeBlanc, Reese LeBlanc, Regan LeBlanc, and Ashlyn LeBlanc Great Grandchildren: Alex and Brandon Noel, Hannah and Hunter Brown and Madison Romero. his twin sister, Rena Broussard and husband Andrew, sister Gladys Moss and husband Alton, brother Nedier LeBlanc, Jr. and wife Madge. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Carmen Dooley LeBlanc, son Richard LeBlanc, Jr., granddaughter Amanda Brown, parents Nedier and Elia LeBlanc, Sister Elaine Rodrigue, Brother Raoul LeBlanc Pallbearers are Keith LeBlanc, Jeff LeBlanc, Carl LeBlanc, Toby LeBlanc, Richie Brown, and Andre LeBlanc. Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Brown and Reese LeBlanc The family wants to express special thanks and gratitude to the staff at Magnolia Gardens assisted living in Abbeville. Mr. Richard really enjoyed his time surrounded by such caring staff and fellow residents. Also, a very special thank you to Hospice of Acadiana, which did an awesome job making sure Mr. Richard was taken care of and comfortable on his last lap of life. The family would also like to thank Barbara Campbell, Yvette Campbell, Yvonne Williams, Shirley Briggs, Marie Cooper and Lynn Ozenne for their kindness and compassion.
