New Iberia " A memorial service will be conducted Saturday November 22, 2008 at 11:00AM at First Assembly of God Church in New Iberia, with Rev. Paul Neel officiating for Karl David Hulin, Age 53, who died peacefully at his residence Friday November 14, 2008 at 1:35PM from complications of a longtime heart condition. A private Inurnment will take place at a later date at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre.

Born in Lake Charles and a longtime resident of Jefferson Island and New Iberia, Karl attended grade school in Jefferson Island and was a student at Delcambre High School prior to attending and graduating from New Iberia High School in 1973. Often known to his classmates and friends as the class clown , Karl loved a good prank, anything fun and was a giver of great hugs! He enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. Karl attended the University of Southwestern and continued on to work at Diamond Crystal Salt Co., Cardinal Wireline and Tong Rentals. Formerly the proprietor of Ears Lounge, Karl was a lover of life! He was recently instrumental in establishing an art program for New Iberia youth and appreciated all types of art. He founded DIRC-Ads and promoted art to be seen throughout the world . Never meeting a stranger Karl was an entrepreneur; always searching for a challenge to enrich his life. Known to all as a true Raider football fan and faithful companion to his black lab, affectionately named Raider , Karl loved his friends and family. He was referred to as Uncle Karl , not only to his nieces and nephews, but also to many of his friends children. We will all greatly miss him, but will remember him with a smile and his warm heart.

Survivors include former wife; Darlene Meyers of New Iberia, parents; John D. J.D. and Camay LaHood Hulin of New Iberia, one sister; Rene Hulin of Lafayette, brothers; Michael and Greg Hulin and Eric Hulin and wife Cindy all of New Iberia, nieces and nephews; Douglas Hulin, Chrystal Hulin, Jacob Hulin of Hillsboro, Ohio and Travis Hulin, Nicholas Hulin and his Godchild Danielle Hulin all of New Iberia, two uncles; Eddie Hulin of Abbeville and Anthony Tony LaHood of Lafayette, one aunt; Katherine LaHood of Lake Charles, one great uncle; Norman Petro of Lafayette, family friend; Denise Anderson and Karls black lab; Raider.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Giles and Eatzia Norris Hulin and John and Edna Petro LaHood, aunts and uncles; Laurie Broussard, Mabel Broussard, Sable Beadle, Alton, Preston and Daures Hulin.

Donations may be made to St. Judes Childrens hospital in Karls name.

David Funeral Home, 1101 Trotter Street, New Iberia, La. (337-369-6336) is in charge of arrangements.
