Catahoula " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Junius Savoy the former Sophie Robicheaux, 94, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at St. Rita Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Fabre officiating. Visitation will be at the Dion Hall on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 beginning at 12:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume at the Dion Hall on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery. A native of Catahoula and a resident of New Iberia Mrs. Savoy died at 5:20AM on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She loved her family which was the pride of her life; enjoyed working in her yard, especially in her flower beds; and was a devout catholic and active member of St. Ritas Alter Society. Mrs. Savoy was the 2009 Sugar Queen and first maid to the Mardi Gras Queen at Iberia Manor North. Her and her husband were past members of the Actors Guild; appeared in a Chevy Truck commercial that ran during the NFL games for one year; and appeared in the movie Southern Comfort. She is survived by two sons, Roy Savoy, Sr. and his wife Juanita and Leonard Savoy both of Catahoula; five daughters, Gereline Frederick of Breaux Bridge, Joyce Romero of New Iberia, Bernette Thibodeaux of Catahoula, Sarah Dupuis and her husband Keith of Cypress Island, and Gladys Catyb of Gretna; one sister, Cecile Smith of Catahoula, twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junius Savoy; her parents, Carlos and Edna Melancon Robicheaux, a brother, Euclide Robicheaux, and two sisters, Ursula Lasseigne and Luce Boudreaux. Serving as pallbearers will be Roy Savoy, Jr., Randy Frederick, Troy Romero, Lane Savoy, Ray Rebert, and Cody Dupuis. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Brent Romero.
