Abbeville " Funeral services will be conducted for Floyd George Butaud, 85 on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at 3:30 PM at St. Theresa Catholic Church with Father Kenneth Mayne officiating. Readers for the Mass will be Christine Hebert and Patricia McLeod, serving as gift bearers will be nieces Victoria LeBlanc and Anne Catherine LeBlanc, and the altar servers for the Mass will be his nephews, Nicholas and Alex LeBlanc. The organist for the funeral Mass will be his niece Manique LeBlanc and the vocalist will be Natial dAugereau. Musical selections will be Battle Hymn of the Republic, Ava Maria, On Eagles Wings, The Hand of God and Jirai la voir un Jour. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Erath with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Derouen Moss Post 279 of Erath. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 9:00 AM until services with a recitation of the rosary at 11:00 AM and 1:00PM. A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Erath, Mr. Butaud died on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 6:00 AM in an Abbeville hospital. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army and was a 60 year member of American Legion Derouen Moss Post 279 in Erath. He worked for Texaco Gas Refinery and Sea Robin Plant for 40 years and retired as Maintenance Superintendant. In 1983 Mr. Butaud was inducted into the Texaco 40 Year Safety Hall of Fame. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. After retirement he had a farm in Henry and enjoyed gardening and raising animals. He is survived by his daughters, Sue Ann Butaud and Millie Marie Butaud both of Erath, numerous nieces and nephews and a special niece Manique LeBlanc and her husband Steven of Abbeville and their four children, Victoria, Alex, Anne Catherine and Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lucille Reaux Butaud; his parents, Pierre Obrien Erwin Butaud, Sr. and Daisy Pullin Butaud; his brother, Erwin Butaud, Jr. and his sister, Melva Francis Butaud. Pallbearers will be Chad Reaux, Steven LeBlanc, Relie Reaux, Joey Reaux, Andre' Reaux and Alex LeBlanc. Honorary pallbearers will be Seth Richard and Jason Reaux. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to his caregiver, Faye Dronet, for her kindness and care given to Mr. Butaud. They would also like to thank Dr. John S. Thibodeaux and the nursing staff at Abbeville General Hospital. David Funeral Home of Abbeville, 2600 Charity St. (337) 893-3777 is in charge of arrangements.
