Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Mr Michael R. Mike Rogers, Sr. 74, at 10:00 AM on Tuesday January 12, 2010 at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Rogers and Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be observed Monday January 11, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will resume Tuesday January 12, 2010 from 8:00 AM until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home Monday January 11, 2010 at 6:30 PM Mr. Rogers passed away Saturday January 9, 2010 at 10:22 AM in a New Iberia Hospital Mr. Rogers was a native and resident of Jeanerette. He was a lab technician for Cabot Carbon Plant for 26 years. He was an avid genealogist who wrote a book called From The Illinois County To The Bayou Teche Country . He was also a skilled carpenter. He loved his family and his dogs Scout, Butch and Sukie. He is survived by his wife Lynn Dupuy Rogers of Jeanerette; His sons, Mike Rogers, Jr. and wife Suzanne of Jeanerette and Brad Rogers of Alexandria, Virginia; His daughter, Jennifer Jenny Vines and husband Robbie of Jeanerette; His grandchildren, Jacob Rogers, Lauren Rogers, Madeleine Vines, Allison Vines, and Sophie Vines all of Jeanerette; His brothers, Roland Boo Rogers of Lydia and Father Peter Rogers, S.J. of New Orleans; His sisters, Mary Thibeaux and Jane Boudreaux both of Lafayette, Rita Rogers of Jeanerette and Suzanne Luke and husband David of Milton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kirby Rogers, Sr. and Marguerite Minvielle Rogers; His brothers, Kirby Rogers, Jr., Frank Rogers, John Rogers, Robert Rogers and a sister Ellen Rogers. The family wishes to give special thanks to Drs Jonathan Stein, Darvin Hales, Perry Stokes, David Rinaldi, Barrow Bourgeois and the Staff and Hospitalist at Iberia Medical Center. Pallbearers will be Brad Rogers, Mike Rogers, Jr. Robbie Vines, Jacob Rogers, Mike Smith, and Roland Boo Rogers. Honorary Pallbearer will be Lonnie Scott.
