Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Lovelace Charles Black Dooley, Age 79, at 11:00AM Monday January 19, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will resume Monday from 8:00AM until service time. A playing of Taps and a military flag presentation will be conducted by VFW Post 1982. The musical selections that will be played and sung by Jodi Bollick are The Our Father, On Eagles Wings, Be Not Afraid and In the Garden.
A native of Weeks Island and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Dooley died Thursday January 15, 2009 at his residence in Jeanerette. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He worked for La. Intrastate Gas and Tenneco for 35 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 26. Mr. Black was a big horseracing fan. His biggest hobby was working in his shop. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was always a good provider and enjoyed taking his family on vacations. Mr. Dooley was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; Clara May Gary Dooley of Jeanerette, one daughter; Connie Dooley Shannon and husband Patrick of Youngsville, one son; Ricky Gerard Dooley and companion Joanie Junca of Jeanerette, three grandsons; Eric Dooley of Lafayette, Ryan Dooley and Cody Junca both of Jeanerette, one granddaughter; Amber Oppenheimer of Youngsville, one great grandson; Colin Boutte of Lafayette, his twin brother; Tilly Dooley of Tucson, Arizona and one stepsister; Lilly May Louviere of Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Louis Dooley and Sidonia Deslatte Dooley, his step mother; Dulcie Hebert, three brothers; Percy, Donald and Norby Dooley and one sister; Bella Thibodeaux.
Pallbearers will be Ricky, Eric, Ryan and Jimmy Dooley, Patrick Shannon and Lynn Derouen. Honorary pallbearers will be Simon Becnel, Patrick Pat Napier, George Derise, Ronald Dick Hebert, Sr., Donald T-Don St. Germaine, Cody Junca, Colin Boutte and Jerry Albert.
