View Video TributeCoteau - A Mass of Christian Burial for Eddie "Chip" Romero, 76, will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Degyter and Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, January 16, 2009 beginning at 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, January 17, 2009 beginning at 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum. Mr. Romero a native and resident of Coteau died at 4:35PM on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at a Lafayette Hospital. He was a long time New Iberia Business man having Managed National Food Store and being employed by them for 32 years, and also Co-Owned and operated both Chip's Super Market and Franklin Super Market with his sons. Mr. Romero was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a very generous, and giving man, who never met a stranger, and just a general happy go lucky kind of guy. Mr. Romero also loved going on trail rides and to horse shows, and not only boxed but also coached boxing. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Simon Romero of Coteau; two sons, Rory Romero and his wife Maxine Broussard Romero, and Kerwin Romero and his wife Sandra Theriot Romero of Coteau; four grandchildren, Nash Romero and his wife Brittany, Brooke Romero and her fiance Beau Babineaux, Reid Romero and his fiance Cigi Chevalon; and Brady Romero and his wife Erin; two sisters, Beatrice R. Menard and Lucy R. Hebert and her husband Charles of Coteau; one great grandson, Jack J. Babineaux. He was preceded in death by his parents Elier Romero and Olita Romero; his mother in law and father in law, Leta Hebert Simon and Enise Simon; a brother in law, Joe Menard; and a nephew, James Menard. Serving as pallbearers will be Rory Romero, Kerwin Romero, Nash Romero, Reid Romero, Brady Romero, and Charles Hebert.
