Rene "Jake" Lassalle, Sr.

June 23, 1919 — January 9, 2010

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Rene Jake Lassalle, Sr., 90, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by V.F. W. Post 1982 of New Iberia.

Visitation will begin on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 8:00 AM until services. A Devine Mercy Chaplet will be recited in the funeral home on Tuesday at 3:00 PM and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM.

A native of Bordeaux, France and a residence of New Iberia, Mr. Lassalle died on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:15 PM at his residence. Along with his father and brother, Mr. Lassalle was the owner of Lassalle Oil Co. in New Iberia. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army and was awarded with the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and a Purple Heart Medal for wounds received in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of V.F. W. Post 1982 of New Iberia and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is survived by his daughters, Gabrielle Gail Hebert and Linda Lassalle Boudreaux; his son, Charles Rene Lassalle, Jr. all of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Brett and Christopher Hebert, Gabrielle H. Trotter, Stephanie H. DePrima, Tracy Verret, Lori Anne and Jake John Boudreaux; and his great grandchildren, Anthony, Kaci, Bryant, Haley and Jude Hebert, Samuel, Daniel and Nathaniel Trotter, Stephen Boudreaux, Ian and Russell DePrima and Braidon and Taylor Bijeau.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Guilbeau Lassalle; his father, R. O. Jake Lassalle, Sr.; his mother, Gabrielle Jeanne Guilleum Lassalle; his brothers, R. O. Bobby Lassalle, Jr. and Alton P. Lassalle, Sr. and his step-mother, Lulia Leleux Lassalle.

Pallbearers will be Larry Verret, Jonathan Trotter, Brett Hebert, Chris Hebert, Jake Boudreaux and R. J. DePrima.
