Visitation will begin on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at 1:00 PM until the services on Friday the funeral home will remain open all night. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 PM.
A native of Lafayette and resident of New Iberia, A. J. died on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 in Lafayette.
A.J. was a 2006 graduate of New Iberia Senior High School and was currently a Senior at University of Louisiana at Lafayette studying Anthropology and his goal was to be a Professor of Anthropology. He was active in the Honor Society at UL of Lafayette. He managed two consecutive terms of Anime club events for members and children in the area. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and taught Catachism. He was an avid reader eager to learn and wrote poems and short stories. He had a great love of History and historic weapons collections. He loved being outdoors, football, practicing martial arts and roll playing games. Having O Negative blood type, he donated blood at UL on a regular basis. He traveled to Europe and had wonderful adventures but would agree his best adventure was the birth of daughter and the short 11 months he shared as her daddy. His friends were too many to list, his words describing them were loving and kind thoughts.
He is survived by his parents, Allen J. Aucoin, Sr. and Cindy Rougeaux Aucoin of New Iberia; his daughter, Arianna Marie Aucoin of Duson; his brother, Brandon Joachim Aucoin of Lafayette; his sister, Courteney Cherise Aucoin of New Iberia; his paternal grandparents, Judy Ann Bourque, Danny Anthony Bourque, Sr. of New Iberia and Everly Donald Aucoin, Sr. of Forked Island; his maternal grandparents, Sonia Marie Gaspard of New Iberia, Harry Joseph Rougeaux and Julie Rougeaux of Indian Bayou; his daughters mother, Ambry Cruice of Duson; his godfather, J. R. Aucoin and his wife Geri; his godmother, Katherine Schlueter and her husband Chad; his uncles, Phil Aucoin and his wife Eve and Danny Bourque, Jr. and his fiancee Mary Meaux all of New Iberia; his Aunt, Angelia Stansbury and her husband Chad of Youngsville; his special cousin, whom he considered his sister, Hannah Aucoin of New Iberia and a host of other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Chad Stansbury, Phil Aucoin, Eberly Aucoin, Jr., Brandon Aucoin, Danny Bourque, Jr., Paul Derouen, Casey Hanson and Kolbie Touchet.
