Lafayette " A Mass of Christian Burial for Vincent James Gartland, 65, will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Richard officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:000PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
Mr. Gartland a native of Lake Charles and a resident of Youngsville died at 9:10PM on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at a Lafayette Hospital. He was known for doing a number of different things, but really enjoyed photography, restoring cars and other things, carpentry, and taking vacation to the beach.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carlotte Grossie Gartland of Youngsville; a son, Todd and his wife Cherie Gartland; a daughter, Anne and her husband Richard Reynolds; five grandchildren, Macy Gartland, Megan Reynolds, Emily Cosper, Gabriel Reynolds, and Dane Gartland all of Youngsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joesph and Ella Thibodeaux Gartland.
Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Gartland, Richard Raynolds, Edmond Moerbe, Douglas Taylor, Glen Grossie, and Brice Rodriguez.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Shane Grossie, Tate Grossie, Blaine Grossie, David Billeaud, and Patrick Rodriguez.
David Funeral Home of Lafayette at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837-9887 will be handling the arrangements.
