New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Sheldon J. Landry, the former Elizabeth Liz Wiltz, age 80, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Perputual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 5:00PM until 9:00PM and resume on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 8:00AM until services. A rosary will be prayed Tuesday at 6:30PM.
A native of New Orleans and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Landry passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 12:57AM in a Lafayette hospital. She was a graduate of John McDonough High School in New Orleans Class of 1947 and graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing with classes at Loyola University Class of 1951 as a registered nurse. She worked for the Department of Indian and Eskimo Affairs in Fairbanks, Alaska for 2 years. She worked at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital as operating room supervisor for 9 years and at Iberia General Hospital as operating room supervisor for 9 years. She worked for Louisiana Family Planning for 2 ½ years and worked for Louisiana Department of Health (D.H.H.R.) from 1972 to 1994 at the Iberia Parish Health Unit. She retired in 1994 as nursing supervisor. She was a member of Homemaker Busy Bees, Senior Friends and a past member of Beta Sigma Phi.
She is survived by her husband, Sheldon J. Landry of New Iberia; her daughter, Linda L. Lange and husband Harry of Franklin; her grandchildren, Clay Gerald Landry and wife Lauren, Damian J. Landry and fianc Melody Howard of Franklin and Shellie Aguilar and husband Juan of New Iberia; her great-grandchildren, Donavan Landry, Debra Brown, Brandon Brown, Michael Aguilar and Cameron Stipelcovich, her brother, Hugo P. Wiltz and wife Sylvia of Metairie; her sister-in-law, Joycelyn S. Wiltz of Semi Valley, CA., and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Lynn Brown Wiltz, her parents, Alphonse C. Wiltz and Lydia Antoinette Baum Wiltz, her brothers, Joseph P. Wiltz and Robert P. Wiltz.
Pallbearers will be Clay Landry, David Doumit, Christopher Doumit, Jeff Farmer, Sonny Macaisz, and Marc Berard.
The family would like to thank the staff and Tim in ICU at Lafayette General Hospital.
