George Hunter

New Iberia- Funeral services will be conducted for George J. Hunter, age 62, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 10:30AM at David Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia with Fr. Louis Richard officiating. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.Visitation will be Monday, February 1, 2010 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 8:00AM until the time of service.

A native of New Iberia and resident of Loreauville, Mr. Hunter passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at 2:00PM in St. Martin Parish. Mr. Hunter retired as Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. His last assignment with the U.S. Air Force was the 2 nd Bomb Wing Barksdale Air Force Base. Mr. Hunter was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Haughton, LA. and the Knights of Colombus in Abilene, TX. George was a hard working guy who loved life. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, playing cards, andcooking. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite past time was spending time with his wife Susan at his camp.

Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Susan Theresa Comeaux Hunter of Loreauville; his son, Jeff Hunter and wife Christi of Lafayette; his daughter, Kelly Cini and husband Robert of Fort Polk, LA; grandchildren, Phillip, Victoria, Joseph, Matthew, Sylvia, and Grace; his step- mother and step-father, Carolyn and James Grigsby of New Iberia; his brothers, James Phillip Hunter of Lafayette; Warren Nelson Hunter and wife Machelle of Conway, AR; and William Charles Hunter and wife Kathy of Cade; his sisters, Carla Dworaczyk and husband Dennis of New Iberia, and Katie Marie Hunter of Houston, TX; brother-in-law, Warren Joseph Comeaux, Jr. of New Iberia; father and mother-in-law, Warren Joseph Comeaux, Sr. and Gertrude Boudreaux Comeaux of New Iberia; and his best friend and companion, his dog Beau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Nelson Hunter and Rita Mae Thibodeaux Hunter, brothers, Ted Joseph Hunter and Jack Albert Hunter, his grandparents, Phillip and Nellie Hunter.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Hunter, Jim Hunter, Warren Hunter, Warren Comeaux, Jr., Phillip Cini and Robert Cini.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zack Hunter, Charles Hunter, Michael Hunter, James Grigsby and Mr. Hunters close friends from the Basin.
