Velda Gayneaux Hardy

Abbeville - Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, January 15, 2010 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Abbeville, honoring the life of Velda Gayneaux Hardy, 77 who died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 4:15PM at Abbeville General Hospital. Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 11:00AM until 10:00PM, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 15 from 8:00AM until the time of service. She will be laid to rest in St. Paul Cemetery with Pastor Thomas Payne officiating the services. Mamma was a loving mother, and grandmother, and devoted wife. She was most happy when crocheting slippers and blankets for her grandchildren. She loved being visited by her children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, but the family finds comfort in knowing that she will be with the Lord. She is survived by her three daughters, Beverly McClain and husband Tomas of Calhoun, La.., Charlene Garrett of Brandon, Miss., and Julie Gaspard and husband Steve of Abbeville. Two sons Francis Pupie Hardy and his very special wife Della of Abbeville, and Rayford Hardy, Sr. and wife Amy of Erath. Sixteen grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren with two more on the way. One sister Louise Landry of Abbeville, also two step sons and three step daughters, and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Francois Cleveland Hardy, her current husband Joseph Hardy of 32 years. Her father Valire Gayneaux, mother Antoinette and step-father Thread Landry, one son Larry Hardy, and a brother Paul Gayneaux. The family would like to thank the nurses of Abbeville General ER and ICU for their kindness with our mother in her time of need.
