Mary Ruth Verret Desormeaux

Visitation will begin on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:00 PM.

A native of Jeanerette and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Desormeaux died on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM in a New Iberia hospital. Mrs. Ruth was truly an amazing woman and always giving of her love, time and support. You could always find her cooking or sewing, as well as encouraging those she loved. She leaves her family and friends with a lifetime of love and memories. She enjoyed cooking and feeding families. She volunteered at area nursing homes and at ARC. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Ronnie Desormeaux of Baton Rouge, Tommy Desormeaux and his wife Jeanene of Lafayette, Barry Desormeaux, Tamie Lopez and her husband Mitchell all of New Iberia and Michael Boo Desormeaux, Sr. and his wife Cristy of De Soto, IL; her brother, Arthur Lee Verret of Jeanerette; her sister, Nileas Migues of New Iberia; her beloved campanion, Dewey Touchet; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Desormeaux, Sr.; her parents, Eulgy and Masey Migues Verret; her sisters, Margaret Breaux and Laura Mae Bourque; her brothers, E. J. Verret, Woodrow Verret, Drolen Verret, Huey Verret and Alvin Verret; her daughter-in-laws, Monica Desormeaux and Kathy Desormeaux.

Pallbearers will be Eric Desormeaux, Jason Desormeaux, Ryan Desormeaux, Adam Desormeaux, James Desormeaux, Chase Desormeaux, John Desormeaux, Michael Desormeaux, Jr. and Brach Lopez.
