New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Henry S. Martin, Sr., 85, on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow in the Broussard Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1982. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 19, 2009 beginning at 9:00 AM until services with a rosary being prayed at 10:00 AM. A native of Jeanerette and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Martin died on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 5:50 AM at his sons residence. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Air Force where he served in the 390th Bomb Group. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 1982 and his hobby was building airplanes. He is survived by his sons, Marty Martin and his wife Phyllis of Jeanerette, Henry Martin, Jr. of Houston, TX and Anthony Martin of Orchard, TX; his daughter, Cynthia Haas of Houston, TX; his step-son, Gerald Delcambre and his wife Shirley of New Iberia; his step-daughter, Sharon Choate and her husband Gene of Abbeville; his brother, Ronald Martin of Jeanerette; his sister, Irene Bienvenue of Jeanerette; 10 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Lily Delcambre Martin; his parents, Jack Martin, Sr. and Josephine Gulotta Martin; his brother, Jack Martin, Jr. and his sister, Joan Roberts. Pallbearers will be Brady Martin, Burt Martin, Jack Martin, III, Jack Martin, IV and Mario Martin. David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
