Jeanerette " Funeral Services will be conducted for Irvin Mo Moceri, Age 89, at 3:00PM Friday February 5, 2010 at The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in New Iberia with Cannon Larry Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum in Jeanerette. Visitation will be Friday February 5, 2010 from 10:00AM until service time.
A native of West Point, Mississippi and longtime resident of Jeanerette Mr. Moceri died Wednesday February 3, 2010 at 3:45AM in a Lafayette hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1943 until 1946. He received his Naval Commission in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Moceri was a 1948 graduate of S.L.I. and received his Masters Degree from L.S.U. in 1954. He was a teacher and coach at Sulphur High School from 1948 to 1952. He then moved to Jeanerette High School and served as a teacher and coach from 1952 to 1969. He served as principal at Canal Elementary from 1969 until his retirement in 1979. Coach Mo was a member of the United Way Organization for 15 years and was a member of the Jeanerette Masonic Lodge #255 F&AM for 50 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #36, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8150, the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association and the Iberia Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Catherine M. Sikes of Katy, Texas; his son, Michael Moceri of New Iberia; grandchildren, Lisa Moceri Barker of Granada Hills, Ca; Marc Moceri of Lafayette, Erik Sikes of Crosby, Texas and Robyn Sikes Dukehart of Kingwood, Texas and Jeffery Moceri Guillotte of Jeanerette; great-grandchildren, Madison Dukehart, Abigail Sikes and Harrison Barker, and an adopted daughter, Mary Dean Deare LeBlanc of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Smith Moceri; parents, Sam and Mary Lollie Allen Moceri and two brothers, A.J. and DeWayne Moceri.
Pallbearers will be Morris Weber, Isby Schexnayder, Jeffery Moceri Guillotte, Erik Sikes, Marc Moceri, William Monnin and Lawrence Sherville.
Honorary pallbearers will be Peachie Landry, Lloyd Guidry, Van Guillotte, Clarence Callahan, Jerry Graham, Merle Ruff, Patrick Napier, Brenda Lewis, Lynn Chaney, Charles Stroud, Dave Mouret, Jimmy Mouret, T.J. Fontenot, Ted Andrus, Bill Wallis, Jim Ebel, Dave Wiseman, Henri Billon, Hartman Lejeune, J.P. Lapeyrouse, Rene Baudry, Gerard Eldridge, Mike Robin, Steve Ardizone, Frank Courts and Dr. Stephen Boudreaux.
The family would especially like to thank caregiver Gloria Johnson for her loving and faithful years of service, the 3
rd
floor staff at Dauterive Hospital and Dr. Stephen Boudreaux.
