Abbeville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Olton Bruce J. Broussard, 79, will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Fr. William Blanda officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, beginning at 4:00PM until 8:00PM, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, February 19, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Mr. Broussard, a native and resident of Abbeville passed away at 3:40PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at a local Abbeville hospital. Mr. Broussard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family. Bruce retired after over 30 years of service with Superior Oil which is now Mobil Oil as Production Plant Manager. Mr. Broussard loved gardening and working with cattle. Mr. Broussard proudly served his country in the Army from 1951 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Broussard was a member of both the VFW and the American Legion, as well as AARP. He is survived by his wife, Ouida Sellers Broussard of Abbeville; two sons, Chris Broussard of Breaux Bridge and Charles Tony Broussard and his wife Mary of Erath; one daughter Joan Broussard of LaPlace; one sister, Elizabeth Dugas of Abbeville; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rene Broussard and Elite Meaux Broussard; a brother, Irvin Broussard; and a brother-in-law, Emile Dugas. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Broussard, Peter Dehart, Brian Bankston, Scott Jackson, Tige LeBlanc, and Cory Richard. Honorary pallbearers will be John Glenn Broussard, Mike Broussard, Percy LeBlanc, Pervis PeeWee Meaux, and B. D. Reynolds.
