Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 1:00PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church honoring the life of Wilbur D. Broussard, 72, who passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at his home with his wife and daughters at his side. Father Albert G. Nunez will officiate the services. His family would like to welcome everyone to share with them their celebration of his life, which will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 beginning at 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary by his classmates, Belle and Clay Landry, at 3:00PM and by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, February 18, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum. Wilbur was a lifelong resident of Erath and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Erath High graduating class of 1955, a past member of the Knights of Columbus, a lay minister and religious educator. He was involved with Erath Youth Baseball League and actively involved with the Cursillo movement. His hobbies were fishing, gardening and cooking, but most of all enjoying them with his family and friends. Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 48 years, Judy Fleming Broussard of Erath; their five children, Scotty P. Broussard, Stephanie P. Broussard, Sy Paul Broussard, and the twins, Suzanne B. Mayard and husband Lenny and Suzette B. Stutes and husband Joshua; seven grandchildren, Hoyt F. Henry, Gabrielle Broussard, Rilee Grace Stutes, Emma Kathryn Mayard, Owen Stutes, Sam Mayard and Andrew Stutes; his father, Lawrence Broussard; and his brother, Vernon Broussard. He was preceded in death by his mother, Una Thibodeaux Broussard; and his in-laws, Norman Fleming and Inez Boudreaux Fleming. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Scotty and Sy Broussard; his grandson, Hoyt F. Henry; his sons-in-law, Lenny Mayard and Joshua Stutes; and his godchild, Bryan Parquette. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice and to all who were here to support and comfort us in our time of need, from the many cousins, classmates and friends, to the public servants of the Erath Police Department.
