New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Leonie J. Slim Sedotal, age 95, Thursday February 18, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Msgr. Ronald Broussard officiating. He went home to be with his Lord on Monday February 15, 2010 at 9:00PM. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday February 17, 2010 from 3:00PM until 10:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8:00AM until service time. Survivors include, two sons Michael Sedotal and wife Faye of Lake Charles and Hayward Sedotal and companion Camie Girouard of Coteau; three daughters, Hazel Dugas, Juliette Leleux and Kathleen Bouton all of New Iberia; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilfred Sedotal of New Iberia, four sisters Lillian Strother and Florence Sedotal of New Iberia, Lois Randolph of Lafayette and Doris Chenevert of LaPlace. He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Landry Sedotal; parents TeBruce and Louise Myers Sedotal; six sisters, Eunice Genest, Leona Duhon, Emeritte Bourg, Corrine Bourg, Mae Sedotal and Bernice York; and son-in-law, Lionel Bouton. As a young man, Leonie worked in the Salt Mines at Weeks Island. He later became a Supply Boat Captain working in the Gulf of Mexico, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and many other countries. He retired from Otis Engineering in 1980, having been the oldest hire hand with Otis at the age of 59. Leonie will be remembered as an avid fisherman and shrimper and a wonderful cook. The family would like to extend special thanks to Iberia Medical Center staff, home health and physical therapy and to Acadiana Home Health for previous care.
