Eugene "Gene" Cornner

Abbeville " Funeral Services for Mr. Eugene Gene Cornner, 83, will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at St. Theresas Catholic Church with Deacon David Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Monday, January 25, 2010 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. A Native and resident of Abbeville Mr. Gene died at 11:00PM on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at a Lafayette Hospital. He retired from Bay City Ford as Parts Manager after working in the parts department for over 54 years. He was also known for his enjoyment of playing cards and reading; and had proudly served his country in the US Army. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Willie Mae Lange Cornner of Abbeville; three grandsons, Josh Cornner and his wife Cassey of Erath, Shawn Cornner and his wife Heather of Erath, and Jake Cornner of Erath; a granddaughter, Nikki Olson and her husband David of Abbeville, a daughter in law, Yvette Stoute of Erath; four great grandchildren, Kane Nicholas Cornner, Kalex Michael Cornner, Knox Aven Cornner, and Jadyn Olson; and a half sister, Anna Vaughn Gros of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clodie and Cecile Touchet; two sons, Roy Lee Cornner and Steve Cornner; four sisters, Blackie Stoute, Lucille Cornner, Irene Harrington, and Anna Mae Myers; a brother Louis Cornner and a half brother, June Cornner. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Cornner, Josh Cornner, Jake Cornner, Ray Barras, Lloyd Duhon, Jr., and Russell Hebert. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Aveneal Meaux and all Mr. Gene's friends at Bay City Ford. David Funeral Home of Abbeville at 2600 Charity St. (337)893-3777 will be handling the arrangements.
