February 3, 1944 — March 27, 2009

Linda Rose Palm Diliberto, 65, of Grand Coteau, Louisiana, passed away at 10:30AM on Friday, March 27, 2009, in Lafayette, Louisiana. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, Louisiana, with Rev. Albert Gayle Nunez as the Celebrant. Interment will take place at 10:30AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in the Masonic Cemetery, City Park Ave. and Conti Street in New Orleans. Linda was born at 12:52AM on Thursday, February 3, 1944, in Touro Infirmary in the city of New Orleans. She was the daughter of Alvin Harry Palm and Rose Gladys Payne Palm. She graduated from St. James Major High School, New Orleans, in 1962, and attended L.S.U. in New Orleans, now U. N. O. Her educational pursuits were interrupted by marriage and the rearing of her children. However, on May 15, 1993, she received her Degree from U.S.L., now University of Louisiana at Lafayette, after a long hiatus from the halls of learning. Linda was an avid animal lover; particularly horses, dogs and cats. A sick, wounded or orphaned animal could always count on her as an easy touch and safe haven. She saw and cared for our animal friends when no one else even seemed to notice they were there. She loved English Horseback Riding and rode competitively for many years. Linda had a real talent for decorating. She was always called on by family and friends to render an opinion about some decorating dilemma and usually had the perfect suggestion. After working her magic on any dwelling, the place always had a definite increase in class. Her passing will leave a tremendous void in the lives of her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Diliberto Dufrene and husband John Dufrene, Jr. of Pass Christian, Mississippi; her son Christopher Diliberto of Grand Coteau, Louisiana; grandchildren, John "Jack" Dufrene, III, Andrew Dufrene and Caroline Dufrene all of Pass Christian, Mississippi; her sister, Carol Palm Martin and husband Tony Martin of New Orleans; her children's grandmother and dear friend, Ann Diliberto of Metairie; and many beloved cousins. Her parents preceded her in death. Linda's children would like to express their endless gratitude to her loyal friends and caregivers, Sherry and John Melancon. The last weeks and months were made easier by their constant care and support. Also, Linda's family would like to give thanks to her very dear friend Linda Arnaud; and also to Journey Hospice; especially Michelle Bordelon and other staff members for the care and concern shown during her time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Linda's name may be made to Lafayette Animal Aid, P. O. Box 298, Carencro, Louisiana 70520 and/or Journey Hospice, 101 La Rue France, Suite 406, Lafayette, Louisiana 70508. David Funeral Home at 316 Youngsville Hwy (337)837 9887 will be handling the arrangements.
