.Lydia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Donald P. Hebert, the former Jeanette Walker, age 82, at 11:00 AM Wednesday March 25, 2009 at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia. Father Donovan Labbe will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Johns Mausoleum in Jeanerette. A native of Weeks Island and a resident of Lydia, Mrs. Jeanette passed away at 10:15 PM on Sunday March 22, 2009. The family requests that visiting hours be held at David Funeral Home in New Iberia beginning at 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday March 24, 2009 with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:50 PM. Visitation will resume Wednesday March 25, 2009 from 8:00 AM until the time of the service. Mrs. Jeanette worked at Morton Salt and Wormer's in Weeks Island and as a bookkeeper at Kingston Construction and Freemans Metal Building in New Iberia. She was a past president of The Amerian Legion Post No. 365 Auxiliary and Girls State Chairman. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Post Auxiliary 1982 where she held a position as auxiliary president, secretary, and district president. After retirement Mrs. Jeanette worked as a volunteer and became a life long member of The Pink Ladies of Iberia Medical Center. She was a member of the Lydia Homemakers, taught religion classes at St. Helene Church in Weeks Island, and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia. She enjoyed working at St. Francis Diner and performing other volunteer work. She is survived by her sister in laws: Joyce Walker of Winnfield, La. and Lorance Lasseigne of New Iberia. Three Nieces: Sherald Doll of Kenner, La. Yola Mayeaux of Slidell, La., Sandra Bender of Covington, La. one nephew & godchild: Myron Decuir of San Antonio, TX. Four grand nieces and four great grand nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald P. Hebert, parents: Lawrence Walker, Sr. and Rosana L. Walker, two brothers: Lawrence, Jr. and Edward Walker, Sr., two sisters: Marjorie W. Decuir and Loretta Walker. She leaves in special memory and thanks for all their loving care to Muriel H.Landry and Wade Hebert. Pallbearers will be: Myron Decuir, Wade Hebert, Gregory Hebert, Kirby Hebert, Curt Landry, Davey Landry, and Daniel Hebert. Honory Pallbearers will be: Rudy Migues, Hardy Landry, Fred Doll and James Bender. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Heart Hospice, Consolata Nursing Home, Home Instead Senior Care and to all doctors and caretakers for their care and compassion.
