Seraphine Lasseigne Hayes

Jeanerette " Funeral Services for Mrs. John L. Hayes, Sr. the former Seraphine Lasseigne, 79, will be at 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Calvary Pentecostal Church with Rev. A.L. Lyle and Rev. Harlan Morgan officiating. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home of Jeanerette on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 beginning at 4:00PM with a Rosary and Service of Remembrance at 7:00PM. The Funeral Home will remain open until 6:00AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Visitation will resume at Calvary Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery in Henderson.
A native of Catahoula and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Hayes died at 8:40AM on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Iberia Medical Center. Seraphine had a very strong love for her family and an unending faith in God. She was a very active participant all the activities at the nursing home especially Bingo. She also enjoyed shopping and cooking.
She is survived by three sons, John D. Hayes and his wife Celestine of St. Martinville, John Leston Hayes, Jr. and his wife Linda of New Iberia, and Russell J. Hayes, Sr. and his wife Connie of New Iberia; four daughters, Mary and her husband Walter Frioux of Jeanerette, Dorothy and her husband Melvin J. Charpentier, Sr. of New Iberia, Julia and her husband Stoney Simoneaux, Sr. of Maurepas, and Rita and her husband Ronald Melancon of Catahoula; two brothers, James Lasseigne of Parks and Gerald Lasseigne of Breaux Bridge; three sisters, Theresa Lombardi of Ruth, LA, Lucille Solari of Parks, and Corrine Deslotte of Breaux Bridge; a son-in-law, Bobby Courville, Sr. of Vinton; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, John Leston Hayes, Sr.; her parents, Hypolite and Julia Miguez Lasseigne; a son, Joseph R. Hayes; two daughters, Audrey Courville and Hazel Hayes; three brothers, Alvin Lasseigne, Paul Lasseigne, and Harry Lasseigne; and one sister, Alice McReynold.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stoney Simoneaux, Jr., Travis P. Hayes, Andy Melancon, Russell J. Hayes, Jr., Ricky Pourciaux, Jeffrey Borel, Donald Charpentier and Joshua Hayes.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Robert Pourciaux, Ronald Pourciaux, Sammy Frioux, Toby Simoneaux, Seth Hayes, A.J. Courville, Joseph Hayes, Bobby Courville, Jr., and Melvin Joseph Charpentier, Jr.
