Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:30 PM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died on Monday, June 22, 2009 at 3:44 AM upon arrival at a local hospital. He was employed with Morton Salt Mine on Weeks Island for 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam Era. He enjoyed horseracing, football and baseball games, playing cards and going to the casino.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Theresa Perry Sue Barrilleaux of New Iberia; his son, Brad Perry and his wife Ashley and Brandon Barrilleaux and his wife Trinity all of New Iberia; his daughters, Stephanie Dollar and her husband Bobby of West Memphis, AR, Gail Kimble of Arkansas and Nicole Dore and her husband Jason of New Iberia; his sisters, Janette Romero Heitman and Lou Boutte Moity both of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elina Viator Romero; his brother, Howard Bud Romero and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Brad Perry, Justin and Toby Romero, David Bow Viator, Jason Dore and Brandon Barrilleaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Heitman, Jr. and Jimmy Heitman.
