Lafayette " A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Tom W. Stanley, Jr., 63, will be held at 1:30PM on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 4:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:30PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 19, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of the services. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum. A native of Holly Beach, LA and a resident of Lafayette, Mr. Stanley died at 10:20AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at his residence. He was retired from Baker Atlas after over 37 years in the oilfield. He was also known for his love of gardening, fishing, and camping. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joyce Abshire Stanley of Lafayette; a son, Thomas Trey W. Stanley III and his wife Alicia of Arlington, VA; a daughter, Tiffany Stanley Abshire of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Madeleine Abshire of Abbeville, Rachel Stanley of Arlington, VA, and one on the way; and two sisters, Arlene Seaford and her husband Rodney of Carlyss, LA and Paree Prejean and her husband Tommy of Sulphur. He was preceded in death by his parents, T. Walter Stanley, Sr. and Lula Istre Stanley. Serving as pallbearers will be Ron Lopez, Larry Hebert, Leonard Beard, John Beadle, Stan Seaford and Richard Elkins. David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Hwy., (337) 837-9887, will be handling the arrangements.
