Youngsville " A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. John Bernard, the former Michelle Villemarette, 42, will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Louis Richard officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, March 16, 2009 from 4:00PM until 10:00PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 from 8:00AM until the time of services. Interment will be held at Sacred Heart Mausoleum at a later date.

A native of Lafayette and resident of Youngsville, our Angel passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 14, 2009. Michelle was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and godmother who loved and looked forward to spending time with her family and friends.

Michelle was a 1984 graduate of Teurlings High School, attended ULL and graduated from South LA Tech College, and she taught Special Ed at Comeaux High School and Adult Education for Lafayette Parish. She also drove for U.S. Express cross-country, was a cheerleader instructor for Comeaux High School, and worked for Stuller Settings, Inc. in quality control. She taught and tested for Commercial Drivers License and she was a Bus Driver for Lafayette Parish Schools up until the time of her death.

Michelle loved the arts, painting, and arts and crafts. She helped several charity organizations and was a partner in Blast Rally Promotions. She was also very involved in and held several offices in the Lafayette Parish School Bus Drivers Association. She loved riding motorcycles and driving her convertible. She enjoyed going to Las Vegas, taking cruises and traveling. She was an animal lover and leaves behind her beloved pets, Harley, Beauty, Jake, Rocky, Shylee and Angelique.

She is survived by her husband, John Bernard of Youngsville; her son, Joshua John Bernard of Youngsville; her parents, Charles Kenneth and Donna Milligan Villemarette of Lafayette; a brother, Chris K. Villemarette and his wife Delia of Houston; a niece and godchild, Avery Teresa Villemarette of Houston; her step-mother, Daphne D. Villemarette of Lafayette; two step-sisters, Maggi G. Bienvenu of Orlando, Florida and Beth K. Bienvenu of Tampa, Florida; and one step-brother, Jay Bienvenu of Long Beach, Mississippi; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Harvey C. and Irene L. Bernard of Lafayette; a brother-in-law, Joseph L. Bernard and his wife Jeanie of Coral Springs, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Janice B. Moss and her husband Scott of Monroe.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cliff Myers, Harold Thibeaux, Warren Baudoin, Marion Burley, Ronald Wosley and Seth Poirier. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Martin, Claire and Madelyn Martin, which were dear friends to the family.

A very special appreciation and much love to all friends and family from her loving husband and son whom she loved dearly.
