New Iberia " A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Lawrence Broussard, the former Lorraine Markham , 90, on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Paul Onuegbe officiating. Gift bearers will be Aminthe Broussard and Alissa Gaudet and the readings for the mass will be read by Patrick Broussard, Jr.. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 8:30 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 PM.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard entered into eternal life on March 28, 2009 at 4:02 PM. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. Lorraine was full of life and a very happy and upbeat person. She loved to be with family and friends, playing cards and bingo. She was generous and a friend too all.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Ritter, Jr. and his staff and New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home staff for the care and kindness shown to Mrs. Broussard.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Broussard and his wife Dorothy of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Patrick Broussard, Jr. and his wife Aminthe of Baton Rouge, James Butterbaugh ahd his wife Renay and Scott Butterhaugh hisfriend Erin all of Albuquerque, NM; her great grandchildren, Alissa Broussard Gaudet and her husband Jacques, Stuart Broussard all of Baton Rouge, Andy and Aiden Butterbaugh both of Alburquerque, NM; her son-in-law, Jim Butterbaugh of Cedar Crest, NM; her brother, James E. Markham of Slidell and her sisters, Pearl Fox of Kenner and FlorenceZeller of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Broussard; her parents, James L. and Pearl Denison Markham; her daughter, Cheryl Butterbaugh; her granddaughter, Jackie Butterbaugh and her sisters, Enola Viator and Dorothy Haycock.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Broussard, Jr., Stuart Broussard, James Broussard, John Viator, James Fox and Kenneth Haycock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kirk and Walley Zeller, Kerry Fox, Chester and Kevin Haycock, James, Mike and Robert Viator, Gary and Todd Broussard.

David Funeral Home of New Iberia, 1101 Trotter St. (337) 369-6336 is in charge of arrangements.
